Gurdwara
in Austria
Gurdwara The word Gurdwara is the combination of the words Guru - Guru Granth Sahib - and Duwara - Gate - and means "The Gate to the Guru". A gurdwara is not only the place of worship for Sikhs but also the house of the guru. In addition to the church service, warm vegetarian dishes are also served here every day. This concept of free cooking was introduced by the first Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji and is called Langar. Another function of a gurdwara is to provide an opportunity for people to provide voluntary services. These services are not compensated by material remuneration, this activity is called Sewa.
